Ms. Wu Yi

Wu Yi, female, ethnic Han, born in November 1938, native of Wuhan, Hubei  Province. Joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in April 1962, and began  working in August 1962. Graduated from the Petroleum Refinery department at  the Beijing Petroleum Institute, majoring in petroleum engineering. With a  university education. Senior engineer.

1956-1962 Student majoring in petroleum engineering of the National Defense  department at Northwestern Engineering College and the Petroleum Refinery  department at the Beijing Petroleum Institute.

1962-1965 Technician and political instructor of the Lanzhou Petroleum  Refineries.

1965-1967 Production technician of the Technology Department under the  Ministry of Petroleum Industry.

1967-1983 Technician, Deputy Chief of Technology Section, Chief, Deputy  Chief Engineer and Deputy Director of Beijing Dongfanghong Petroleum  Refineries.

1983-88 Assistant Manager and party secretary at Beijing Yanshan  Petrochemical Company.

1988-1991 Vice mayor of Beijing.

1991-1993 Vice Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade, deputy  secretary of its Leading Party Members‘ Group.

1993-1997 Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, secretary  of its Leading Party Members‘ Group.

1997-1998 Alternate member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central  Committee, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, secretary of  its Leading Party Members‘ Group.
